As an experiment I'm going to offer some of my images as JPEG files in large sizes that you can use to make your own print of an image.
I do this as an experiment to investigate alternative ways to sell prints, and to make it possible for almost anybody to afford to buy an image even in the current economy. You can buy any of the images on this page as a large JPEG image that you can print yourself for $5.
To fully understand what this offer is about, I'm giving away a free sample. No strings attached. If you send an email with the subject line "Free JPEG offer" to rn(at)ronnynilsen(dot)com and put the image caption in the body of the message to indicate which of the images on this page you want as your free sample. I will then send you a full size JPEG version of the image that is suitable for printing on A4 size paper (21 x 29.7 cm) or similar sizes at 300 dpi with an approximately 2 cm border around the image.
Please note that all the terms and conditions below also applies to this free image. Please don't just send or give this image to anybody else. Send them the link to this page so they can see where it came from and the conditions of it's use.
All of the images offered as JPEGs were photographed by me and I own and retain the copyright on them. When you buy one of the images I grant you the right to make prints of it for your own personal use only.
This means that you cannot redistribute or republish them in any form, on the web or off. You cannot give or sell them to other people. If you want to give away a print you make as a gift to someone else, I ask that you buy another copy to give away.
Some people have the mistaken impression that copyright restrictions only applies to commercial use, and they believe that if they don't make money they can redistribute copyrighted work as they wish. That's wrong, and it hurts the creator of the work.
I have chosen to sell these images without any watermark for your enjoyment as I want you to enjoy the images without a digital watermark or copyright notice over the image. In return I ask that you do not abuse this privilege.
Click on any of the images on this page and you will see larger version of the image with several buying options. To buy the image as an JPEG select the JPEG option and pay with PayPal.
As soon as I'm back at my main computer and get the order, I will send you the image in an email.
After you get the image you can then proceed to make a print of it at your own printer. The image is sharpened by me to be printed on glossy paper. It will look a bit crunchy when view 100% on your computer screen, but the paper print should be perfect.
Most of you will probably not have an ink jet printer with archival inks and papers, so after a while the print will fade. When this happens you just print another copy. If you want a high quality print with archival properties, I recommend that buy one of my Fine Art Prints.
I'm doing this as an experiment to find alternative ways of selling my images at a reasonable price that people can afford in addition to my Fine Art Prints. It's also my hope that when people see these images in print, they will also buy my real prints that are made with archival materials that will last, and that generally is of a higher standard than what most people will be able to make for themselves even if they have my files.
When people see real prints they can see the quality for themself, but selling on the web it's impossible to show someone how beautiful the prints really are. By letting people print an image I hope to make it risk free to buy an image as you can see for yourself how it will look in print.
Send me an email at rn(at)ronnynilsen(dot)com if you have any questions or comments about this website, my essays, want to buy a print, discuss terms for noncommercial redistribution or licensing for commercial use or publication, I would love to hear from you.
